About Me
Hi, I'm Ed D’Emilio, the founder of TechConfident. My journey into tech coaching didn't start in a boardroom. It started at my in-laws' kitchen table with a cup of coffee, and my mother-in-law asking me for the fifth time that week: "Ed… is this email from the IRS real?"
Spoiler alert: it wasn't.
Between helping my mother-in-law dodge increasingly clever scams and teaching my father-in-law how to use his smartphone without accidentally ordering 12 garden hoses on Amazon, I realized something important: technology isn't just confusing, it can be downright intimidating. And scams? They're getting trickier by the day.
If my own family, intelligent, capable people, were struggling to feel confident online, then countless others must be too. The problem wasn't their capability. It was that nobody was teaching technology the way they needed to learn it. So I built TechConfident to bridge that gap: a place where everyday people can learn to spot scams, use technology with ease, and feel empowered instead of overwhelmed.
I bring my background in Technology and Strategy consulting into everything we do. I understand technology architecture and security. But my real strength is translating complicated concepts into something that actually makes sense for real people.
What TechConfident Actually Is
At its core, TechConfident is about people. It's about my mother-in-law now confidently identifying and deleting scams on her own. It's about my father-in-law successfully video-calling his grandkids without needing coaching. It's about making technology less scary, more approachable, and genuinely useful.
Because if I can teach my in-laws to feel confident with technology, I can teach anyone.
